A warm welcome

In the Perigord, the locals are famed for their hospitable nature and have a very strong sense of society. This is particularly the case in rural communities such as this, where one worries less about time and money, and where people make it their priority to help their neighbours. They will jump at any excuse to have a party, fete or festival, and the summer particularly is a long sequence of organised events.

A vibrant international expat community
The Dordogne has long been a popular destination for expats, drawn by a number of factors – but not least the warm welcome. There is excellent integration between the various communities, and it is common to see expats at the very heart of their village events.

Amongst the expats, the cross-section is unashamedly middle-class, coming from all walks of life. For the most part, the reason for coming is the quality of life on offer, and, like many expat communities, there is excellent camaraderie.
